The Karoo Birding Route - A Bird Lover's Paradise

Karoo Birding Route - Discover and observe over 200 indigenious bird species.

In the conservancy we have a mapped birding route with guiding notes and a written guide to guide you to the special bird you are looking for. Over a period we have identified 256 birds on the land this list being influenced by the month, rainfall and Evan winds.

The climate in anther parts of the country and world also influence our birdlife. The divergent vegetation type combined with geographical diversities help to accommodate more specie, we have mountains, standing water and plains to support their habitat.

We are Bluecrane custodians with many of these birds nesting on the land in large numbers, with up to 300 visiting us in the month of August.

Interesting sights as the Lesser Kestrel attacking locusts, the black eagle nest in a tree, Fish Eagles in the Karoo and Burchels Corsa are some of our specialties.

We will pack your picnic basket, giving you loads of time to work through our birding list and the map of the birding route, in your own time and do a self-drive route.

After a magnificent Karoo sunset enjoy a braai with a variety of farm style dishes in the boma under the star-studded sky. Pool. Donkey cart rides and horse riding. A birdwatcher’s paradise with over 200 species.
